Steve Kerr Makes Huge Call on Anthony Edwards

Steve Kerr has been the head coach of Team USA since 2021 and is a five-time NBA coach, so he’s seen some damn good players in his time.

Minnesota star Anthony Edwards joined USA for the first time in their FIBA World Cup campaign and he has been a standout.

He has risen to the occasion in big moments and just last night against Jordan, he dropped 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists – all in 18 minutes.

Despite having the 2022 DOPY in the team, Jaren Jackson Jr. Steve Kerr has lauded Edwards’ defense.

“We feel like we always have the best defensive guards in the tournament, regardless of whether it’s this year or last year or the year before…,” Kerr said. “This guy [Anthony Edwards] is right up there at the top. The pressure he puts on the ball, the way he stays in front, it really can confuse a defense and take them out of their stuff.”

The 22-year-old is obviously a very honest and confident guy, so after beating every team so far, he thinks his team can go all the way.

“I think we’re going to win,” Edwards said. “We’re unbeaten, also. So I think we have a great chance of winning. We have great coaches, we got great players, our confidence is at an all-time high, so we’re not really worried about those guys.”

He has been the talk of the town amongst his coaches and teammates, who believe he is going to another level right before their eyes.

“Anthony Edwards, that’s gonna be a household name,” USA assistant coach Erik Spoelstra said recently. “(Maybe) it already is.”
