The Golden State Warriors are planning to hire Chuck Hayes for a front office position within the franchise, sources told HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.
Hayes, a Bay Area native, played nine years in the NBA as an undrafted cager. From 2006 to 2015, he managed to suit up for the Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings, and Toronto Raptors and carve a career average of 3.7 points, 5.0 boards, and 1.2 assists for 644 total games.
Standing at 6-foot-6 in height while weighing over 240 pounds, Hayes is prominently known during his playing days for being an undersized center and an initial subject of the game’s “small ball” movement. During his stint for the Rockets, he notably served as a backup big man for Hall of Famer Yao Ming who is one of the tallest league players ever with his 7-foot-6 frame.
After concluding his career in 2016, Hayes spent a year for the Denver Nuggets holding a front office and player development role. He made a return to Houston in 2017 and worked his way up from being a pro personnel scout into an assistant director of player personnel until the last 2022-23 season.
Besides the exit of team president Bob Myers, Golden State lost a key front office member this offseason as former Warrior Shaun Livingston stepped down from his director of players affairs and engagement position after three years of being in service in order to focus on his family.
