Warriors’ Draymond finds Luka Doncic’s rescinded 16th technical ‘funny’

Draymond finds Luka’s rescinded 16th technical foul ‘funny’ originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Warriors forward Draymond Green had a classic reaction to the NBA rescinding Luka Dončić’s 16th technical foul of the 2022-23 NBA season Monday, which allowed the Dallas Mavericks star to avoid a one-game suspension.

Green, less than two weeks removed from his own one-game suspension for a 16th tech, got a kick out of the NBA’s decision despite being a self-proclaimed “big Luka guy.”

Dončić will play against the Indiana Pacers on Monday night as Dallas, No. 11 in the Western Conference, fights to stay alive in the playoff picture. He would have missed the game had his tech been upheld, which came during the Mavericks’ loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday night after Dončić didn’t get the foul call he was looking for and exchanged words with the referee.

Green committed his 16th technical foul in the second quarter of the Warriors’ 134-126 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on March 16, throwing the basketball at Russell Westbrook after the Clippers guard appeared to shove him in the back.

Should Green’s foul have been rescinded? The NBA certainly didn’t think so, and the Warriors veteran was suspended for their following game against the Atlanta Hawks — another chapter in his storied history with league officials.

The league clearly had a different opinion of Dončić’s situation. And to Green, that’s pretty funny.
