Steph Curry’s Honest Reaction to Warriors Trading Jordan Poole

Not so long along, Jordan Poole was Steph Curry’s protégé but things can change quickly as we saw last week when Poole was sensationally traded away from the Warriors for Chris Paul.

If things had gone differently, Poole may have stayed at Golden State long-term and even replaced Steph once he retires, but that wasn’t to be.

Steph spoke about losing his teammate but is clearly excited to add another veteran to the roster.

“You hate losing JP,” Curry told Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “I know it’s not all the way official yet. So I don’t want to talk too much before it is. But that’s the tough part of the business, seeing a young guy come into his own (and then get traded).

“It’s a great opportunity for him. It’s just you get to know someone like that, build a friendship, build a bond. It’s tough to see him go. But, you know, we’re trying to win next year and CP can help us do that.”

Poole’s pre-season altercation with Draymond Green caused tensions in the locker room all season long.

“It was a splintering that never glued back together, and the turbulence did appear to impact Poole on the court,” The Athletic’s Anthony Slater said. “He had a frantic season that spiraled toward the end. He was fourth in the NBA in total turnovers and jacked up enough questionable heat check 3s that his percentage from deep dipped to 33.6 percent. His defensive focus and effort waned, frustrating the coaching staff. His playoff performance was rough.”

The four-year guard shouldn’t get too comfortable in Washington because the franchise may move him on sooner rather than later, Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer says.

“Poole’s was the only significant future number that landed back on Washington’s books, which has led some opposing executives to wonder whether the Wizards will look to move Poole again at some point prior to next year’s trade deadline,” Fischer said last week.
