Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was absolutely electric at the FIBA World Cup, with averages of 24.5 points and 6.4 assists per game.
His campaign culminated with a victory over Team USA in the bronze medal match, and his outstanding performances have earned the praise of fellow Canadian Steve Nash.
“I mean, he’s got it, right,” Nash said. “He has the game, the feel, the understanding of his responsibility in the moment. It’s just a beautiful thing when you have a player like that in your arsenal.
“He’s one of my favourite players and keeps getting better. It’s going to be fun to watch him play the rest of his career and continue to play in a Canada jersey as long as possible.”

However, Canada has much more talent these days (which many attribute to The Carter Effect) and they still weren’t at full strength during the World Cup just gone.
Team Canada could look especially dangerous at the 2024 Olympics in Paris if they are able to add the likes of Jamal Murray and Andrew Wiggins to the mix.
Other talented Canadian players include Bennedict Mathurin and Shaedon Sharpe.
Mathurin was drafted sixth overall last year and averaged 16.7 points in 28.5 minutes per game for the Indiana Pacers in his rookie season, while Sharpe was drafted seventh overall by the Portland Trail Blazers last year and averaged 9.9 points over 22.2 minutes per game.
