Bismack Biyombo gave the Oklahoma City Thunder and the broader NBA world a real shock on Wednesday night when he appeared to collapse near the bench during the team’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The incident occurred during a timeout, and despite the initial concern, a wheelchair brought onto the court was not used. Biyombo was assisted off the court and headed towards the locker room, prompting a delay in the game.

Physicians at the scene confirmed that Biyombo did not have any serious medical issues. He is scheduled for further evaluation tomorrow, according to Bally Sports Oklahoma.

Bismack Biyombo was playing just his fifth game for the Thunder. He joined the team last month after being waived by the Memphis Grizzlies on January 10.

Biyombo entered the NBA as the seventh overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, selected by the Sacramento Kings, but was later traded to the Charlotte Bobcats (now Charlotte Hornets) on draft night.

He is putting up averages of 4.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists this season, with career averages of 5.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game.
