The Celtics’ social media team put out a video on Christmas Eve of the players wrapping holiday gifts. The results were generally bad — Luke Kornet is surprisingly awful — but in Christmas Day present for the fans, Jayson Tatum knew just how to put an entertaining bow on the win over the Lakers.
Instead of taking Derrick White’s pass, running out the shot clock, and taking the team turnover, Tatum dodged the ball. It resulted in White’s second TO of the game and only the team’s eighth.
Richard White, Derrick’s dad and a mainstay of Celtics Twitter, tweeted, “even with late turnover tfw vibes are good.”
Despite the blemish, White was arguably the second best player behind Kristaps Porzingis in beating LA with his 18 points (2-for-4 from behind the arc), 11 assists, and a pair of STeals and blOCKS (STOCKS) on the night.
“I didn’t realize how good DWhite was. He was kinda under the radar a little bit,” Porzingis said after the game. “Man, he’s special. The way he plays, how 90%-plus of the time, he makes the right play all of the time, that’s the perfect teammate you want, ya know?”
Not that perfect though, right, Jayson?
