The Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic openly acknowledged that the late-game travel violation called against him in the Mavericks’ loss to the Thunder “probably” was a travel.
However, he expressed frustration, noting that such travels occur approximately 20 times per game, often going uncalled in NBA matches.
Doncic emphasized the inconsistency, questioning the decision to enforce it in the crucial final minutes when it had been overlooked earlier in the game.
He cited a similar play by Williams on the next possession that went uncalled, leaving him feeling surprised and frustrated.
“Well, my view is probably it was a travel, but those travels happen about, in my opinion, 20 times per game,” Doncic said.
“So, with a minute to go, a minute and a half, if you’re going to call that travel the first time in the game, you can’t do that, you know? I don’t think so. But I think those travels happen a lot of times in one game and the NBA doesn’t call that travel, so…
“I was really surprised because on the next play, Williams, I think, did the same exact thing, and they didn’t call it. Pissed me off, man.”
Luka Doncic admitted the travel he was called for late in the Mavs’ loss to the Thunder “probably” was a travel, but felt those go uncalled often in NBA games:
