Karl-Anthony Towns Came Up In Wolves’ Trade Talks Before Draft

The future of Karl-Anthony Towns with the Minnesota Timberwolves is unclear as he begins Year 1 of his four-year, $224 million supermax extension. With the Wolves trading control of their draft to the Utah Jazz for Rudy Gobert, a trade of Towns is seen by many as the most feasible way for the franchise to balance out their roster around Anthony Edwards. Further complicating the Minnesota roster was their three-year, $42 million extension for Naz Reid.

The Wolves reportedly had some level of trade talks involving Towns in June.

“There were talks between the Timberwolves and other teams before the draft and Towns’ name came up,” said Ian Begley on Zach Lowe’s podcast. “I don’t know how aggressive the Timberwolves were with Towns, if at all.”

Towns is represented by Jessica Holtz of CAA.
