Joel Embiid wants Tyrese Maxey to be more aggressive

Like Nurse, Embiid is in Maxey’s face about not passing up opportunities and staying aggressive. The MVP has actually been preaching that to his teammates for over a season. “I told him, we got a lot of plays that we want to run,” Embiid said, “but he doesn’t have to run all those plays. There’s so many times where there’s space. … If you see the space, man, who cares about the play? Attack because you are going to create the same look anyway. “He’s going to score or the defense is going to collapse and somebody is going to be wide open.”

What’s the buzz on Twitter?

Justin Grasso @JGrasso_
“It was a couple of times today the right play was for me to shoot, and I passed it. I’m still trying to find that balance.”
Tyrese Maxey has been challenged by the Sixers to be aggressive in doing a little bit of everything.

Four @sixers have scored at least 100 points this season:
147 — Joel Embiid
131 — Tyrese Maxey
105 — Kelly Oubre Jr.
100 — Tobias Harris
They are the first team in NBA history with four such players through the first five games of a season.

Tyrese Maxey is balling. Off to his best start as a 76er, the point guard is making people forget about James Harden. But on Saturday, Maxey had a quiet first half before finishing with 22 points and 10 assists in the 112-100 victory over Phoenix Suns at the Wells Fargo Center. “That’s not enough,” coach Nick Nurse said. “He’s too good to have a quiet first half. He’s got to not get into those modes where he’s not being more aggressive. “I’m not criticizing him. I’m just trying to keep imploring that needs to be more aggressive.” -via The Philadelphia Inquirer / November 5, 2023
Kyle Neubeck: Nick Nurse asked about Tyrese Maxey’s bounce back and 22-5-10 line in the second half after a slow start. “It’s not enough” Says he’s too good to play passively, and that they made it a point to manufacture aggression for him pic.twitter.com/EkWPRzJZAT -via Twitter @KyleNeubeck / November 4, 2023
Keith Pompey on Joel Embiid’s future: There comes a point in time where if you’re serious about winning a championship, as a competitor in you, you can’t fault a person for wanting to leave after a while. At this particular time, I’ll say that Joel is monitoring the situation and how everything goes. Right now, they’re optimistic because Maxey is playing well, and they have a bunch of role players who can help them out. If Morey doesn’t do anything with this and they suffer another second-round loss, I could see Embiid asking for a trade heading into next year. -via HoopsHype / November 2, 2023
