Exec Says Blake Griffin Would Be a Good Fit With the Lakers

Blake Griffin is still an unrestricted free agent for the upcoming NBA season and one exec says he would be a perfect fit for the Lakers.

The purple and gold did sign some solid additions this offseason but at center they are noticeably lacking.

The franchise only have one true center on the roster, that is Jaxson Hayes who hasn’t seen much time on the court since entering the league three seasons ago.

There were whispers of center Christian Wood heading to LA but that doesn’t seem to be gaining tracking at the moment.

One exec thinks veteran big man Blake Griffin could fill the spot.

“Blake Griffin is still out there and I think his best fit is the Lakers,” the executive told NBA Analysis Network. “He would be a perfect depth addition for L.A.”

At 34 year’s old, Griffin could be anything from a role player to a backup forward or just a good role model for the young players who can provide guidance in the locker room on limited minutes.

He defense isn’t adding much but his amount of energy and hustle on the court the last few seasons has been impressive.

The big man is a versatile and can be a good distributor, which could work well alongside young stars like Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves.

Plus, having another veteran presence on the team wouldn’t be a bad idea since LeBron carries most of those responsibilities currently, but even he needs a break sometimes.

Of course, Griffin played with the other LA team the Clippers for eight seasons, so knows what to expect in LA.

As well, the Lakers don’t have too much cap space left so to sign Griffin on a vets minimum would actually be feasible.

The six-time All-Star appeared in 41 games last season for the Celtics and averaged 4.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists on 48.5 percent shooting from the field and 34.8 percent from beyond the arc.
