Colin Sexton Floated as Lakers Trade Target

The Lakers have certainly recruited well this offseason but if they want to chase a championship, some more moves could be made and Collin Sexton is a good fit.

With D’Angelo Russell not performing to expected standards last offseason as point guard, the Lakers signed Heat guard Gabe Vincent during the offseason.

Signing an additional player like Sexton into the mix could be favorable for the purple and gold, B/R’s Zach Buckley believes.

“It’s also possible the Lakers could wind up needing another point guard, as the stage was seemingly set for a D’Angelo Russell deal when he waived his implied no-trade clause,” Buckley said. “L.A. could catch lightning in a bottle with a young, offensive-minded point guard like Anthony or Sexton.”

24-year-old Sexton averaged 14.3 points, 2.9 assists and 2.2 rebounds on 50.6 percent shooting from the field with the Jazz last season – some of these stats were career lows due to Sexton coming off the bench.

However, the Lakers could see this an advantage because coming off the bench is something he is familiar with.

And with Vincent the frontrunner to start at the guard position, this is very well what would occur in LA if they were to sign him.

It is no secret that the Jazz are looking to trade Sexton and his intensity, finishing ability and accurate shooting are all skills that the Lakers could benefit from.

Other players that LA have added to their roster this summer include Taurean Prince, Cam Reddish and Jaxson Hayes.

Given how far the franchise went in last postseason after a 2-10 start to the season, after adding a couple more solid pieces, they may well be a championship contender.

Throw a healthy LeBron and a consistent AD in there and who knows how far this team could go.
