Can Dallas Make The Playoffs? Mavericks vs. Kings Preview, Odds & Predictions

Scheduled for Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 5:30 PM ET, the Kings (48-31) and Mavericks (37-42) will battle it out in a highly anticipated regular season game. The Mavericks are fighting hard in what is considered to be a make-or-break game in their attempt to secure a spot in the play-in rounds.

However, with a significant 6.5 spread, the Kings are the clear favorite and will make for a hard Mavericks win.

MATCH PREVIEW

After Kyrie Irving’s impressive 41-point performance in the Dallas’ 132-130 overtime defeat to the Atlanta, they now face the Sacramento.

Dallas has a 27-23 record against Western Conference teams, with an 11-11 record in games decided by a margin of ten or more points. The Kings have a 32-17 record in conference games, and they currently possess the league’s top-scoring offense, averaging 121.4 points with a 49.7 percent shooting.

This will be the third time these teams have played against each other this season. The Kings won the previous encounter 133-128 in overtime on Feb. 12, with De’Aaron Fox scoring 36 points in the victory.

Irving leads the Mavericks with an average of 27 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, while Luka Doncic is averaging 21.7 points in the last ten games.

The Kings’ Harrison Barnes is shooting 46.9 percent and averaging 15 points, while Keegan Murray has averaged 4 points made 3-pointers in the last ten games.

In their last ten games, the Mavericks have a 3-7 record, averaging 118.1 points, 38.8 rebounds, 25.1 assists, 5.2 steals, and 4.1 blocks per game on 49.9 percent shooting. Numbers that have seen them placed under heavy scrutiny within the NBA community.

The Kings have a 6-4 record in their last ten games, averaging 124.5 points, 43.2 rebounds, 28.9 assists, 7.3 steals, and 4.2 blocks per game on 49.6 percent shooting.

Despite claims that Irving and Doncic could be shut down for the remainder of the season and having both been listed as day-to-day due to rest, they are both expected to start in a desperate last-ditch effort to keep their season alive.

ODDS AND PREDICTIONS

On Wednesday night, two Western Conference teams with vastly different playoff situations in the final week of the regular season will meet in the Lone Star State.

The Kings are playing their second game of a back-to-back after a victory against the Pelicans on the road. In their previous game, they suffered a disappointing 142-134 overtime defeat at home to the Spurs, failing to cover the spread as a 16-point favorite.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks suffered a heartbreaking loss in a close game to the Hawks 132-130 in OT. However, they did manage to cover the line as a three-point underdog. In their regular season series, the teams have split their two meetings, with the Kings winning the most recent game 133-128 in overtime at home on February 11.

Mavericks have more to play for and will be purposeful in keeping this game close, making it hard to look past the Mavericks with such a hefty spread.

Spread: Kings -6.5

Moneyline: Mavericks -221, Kings +183

Pick: Mavericks +6.5
