The Regular Season in LEB Gold just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Clavijo on the court of Alicante on Friday night. Visitors were rolled over by Alicante 92-56. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Clavijo’s 30. Alicante forced 25 Clavijo turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Naturalized Bulgarian forward Konstantin Kostadinov (203-2003) stepped up and scored 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners and Senegalese center Serigne Barro (208-1995) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side power forward Javier Nicolau (208-1997, college: UMC) responded with 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Alicante is looking forward to face Coruna on the road in the next round. Clavijo will play against Real Betis and is hoping to win this game.
Very significant was Estudiantes’ 23-point road victory against Caceres 83-60. The former international guard Francis Alonso (191-1996, college: UNCG) nailed 25 points for the winning side and Sergio Rodriguez accounted for 13 points and 7 rebounds. Brazilian center Dikembe Andre (206-1999) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for Caceres in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Estudiantes will play against Oviedo at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Caceres will play against Castello in Castellon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Burgos. host Burgos T. defeated Valladolid 92-86. Ramon Vila fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Devin Schmidt produced 16 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Burgos T. will meet Gipuzkoa in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Valladolid will play against Menorca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 1: Melilla won against Menorca on the opponent’s court 83-66. Lleida managed to outperform Gipuzkoa in a home game 75-68. Cantabria managed to beat Fuenlabrada on the road 78-73. Ourense defeated Castello on its own court 93-80. Burgos SP lost to Oviedo in a road game 71-75. Real Betis lost to Coruna at home 77-81.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by Ingus Jakovics of Coruna.
