Defending champion Al-Manama (Premier League) agreed terms with 31-year old American ex-international swingman Sir’Dominic Pointer (198cm-87kg-1992, college: St.John’s). Pointer moved there from Basket Brno in NBL league in Czech Republic where he played this season. In 6 NBL games he had 12.3ppg, 3.8rpg, 2.7apg, 1.3spg and 1.2bpg.
In 2015 he was drafted by Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA) in second round (53rd overall). The former St. John’s University standout is in his eighth season in pro basketball. He was a member of USA Senior National Team in 2020.
Pointer is quite experienced player. Pointer’s career allowed him to visit four different continents, while he played in nine different countries. He tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America. Pointer has played previously professionally in Cyprus (Apoel), Greece (Panionios), Hungary (Arconic-Alba), Israel (Hapoel Eilat), Lebanon (Byblos), Taiwan (Dreamers), Venezuela (Trotamundos), NBA G League (Cleveland Charge) and The Basketball Tournament (Choice).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his team was regular season runner-up in Cyprus League in 2022. He was also voted Eurobasket.com All-Cyprus League Defensive Player of the Year in 2022.
