Rapid – Cluj Napoca 106-86

The game was mostly controlled by Rapid. Cluj Napoca managed to win third quarter 26-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Rapid looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Alexandru Olah (210-1993, college: Northwestern) who scored 26 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!). Lithuanian point guard Vaidas Kariniauskas (199-1993) chipped in 22 points and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Patrick Richard (193-1990, college: McNeese St., agency: Inception Sports) who recorded 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international center Emanuel Cate (207-1997) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Sibiu – Oradea 68-78

It looked good early as Sibiu took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Oradea had a 30-17 second period charge getting the lead and Sibiu was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-78. They outrebounded Sibiu 30-17 including 19 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American forward Mark Ogden (206-1994, college: Utah Tech) who led his team to a victory with 14 points and 8 rebounds. The former international point guard Kris Richard (195-1989, college: Tulane) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Richard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Oradea players scored in double figures. Argentinian point guard Gaston Whelan (187-1994) answered with 17 points and 5 assists and American forward Monyea Pratt (196-1985, college: Stillman) added 11 points in the effort for Sibiu. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
