Top ranked Sokol (17-3) recorded its third loss on the court of eighth ranked Lublin 2 on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Lublin 2 90-75. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Sokol. They outrebounded Sokol 47-36 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Lublin 2 especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Adam Mysliwiec (200-90) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Center Roman Szymanski (209-91, college: Colby CC) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. point guard Marcin Nowakowski (184-89) produced 11 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for lost side. Sokol’s coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lublin 2 (11-10) moved-up to seventh place. Sokol at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Lublin 2 are looking forward to face higher ranked Tychy (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sokol will play against AZS PO in Opole and is hoping to win this game.
Seventeenth-ranked Turow (2-17) made lots of trouble for second ranked Gornik (16-5) in Walbrzych. Gornik managed to secure only two-point victory 70-68. However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Krzysztof Jakobczyk (183-86) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 4 assists. Piotr Niedzwiedzki contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Guard Kacper Traczyk (185-98) replied with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for Turow. Gornik have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-5 record behind leader Lancut. Turow lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 17 games lost. Gornik will play against Pelplin (#14) in Pelpin in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Turow will play at home against Kotwica and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game was played in Wroclaw where host Slask (#8) won against 5th ranked AZS PO 99-95 on Wednesday evening. Jan Wojcik had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 23 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. At the losing side Dominik Rutkowski responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds. AZS PO’s coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Slask have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 10-9 record. Loser AZS PO keeps the fifth place with seven games lost. Slask will meet Dziki (#13) in the next round where they are favorite. AZS PO will play against the league’s leader Sokol (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
Rest of the games of round 22 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Krakow defeated WKK Wroclaw in a road game 99-95. Kolobrzeg beat Koszalin at home 92-77. Krosno lost to Tychy on the opponent’s court 71-89. Pruszkow managed to outperform Dziki Wwa in a home game 82-77.
The best stats of 22th round was 28 points and 6 rebounds by Przemyslaw Kuzkow of Dziki Wwa.
WKK Wroclaw – Krakow 95-99
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked WKK Wroclaw‘s (9-11) home loss to eighth ranked Krakow (11-9) 95-99 on Thursday. Krakow made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Forward Piotr Lis (186-1) scored 30 points to lead the charge for the winners and Pawel Zmarlak (195-82) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Krakow’s coach Wojciech Bychawski used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side forward Jakub Patoka (200-94) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Tomasz Ochonko (183-86, agency: BIG) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Krakow and five WKK Wroclaw players scored in double figures. Krakow moved-up to sixth place. Loser WKK Wroclaw keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Starogard Gd.. Krakow will meet Zak (#12) in the next round where they are favorite. WKK Wroclaw will play against Kociewskie Diably in Starogard Gdanski and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
