Luka Doncic Provides Hint About His Playing Future

Dallas superstar Luka Doncic hasn’t ruled out a return to his former team Real Madrid in the future, after the Mavs played an exhibition game against the EuroLeague outfit.

Real Madrid came away with a 123-127 win against Dallas in Spain, while Luka was limited to playing five minutes due to a lingering calf injury.

He still managed to score nine points from pull-up three’s.

The point guard developed with Madrid before declaring for the NBA Draft in 2018, so all the memories came flooding back.

“There are many of memories,” Doncic said. “Just being here. Being here, being in Valdebebas, being in Madrid, there are a lot of memories. Beautful memories. And well, I’m very happy to be back.”

He was so happy to be back that he spoke about an eventual return to Europe, but confirmed it would only be with his old team.

“If ever go back to Europe, I will surely go back to Madrid. That’s 100 percent,” Doncic said. “I don’t know what the future is going to be like, but if I ever go back to Europe, I’m sure it will be Madrid.”

The Slovenian native is under contract with Dallas until the 2026-27 season, with a player option in the last year.

He is also eligible to sign an extension in 2025 and could become the first player to collect an $80 million salary, which may keep in the NBA for the foreseeable future.

The 24-year-old does have a lot of love for Real Madrid though, and credits them for being where he is today.

“I surely wouldn’t be where I am now,” Doncic said. “Like I said, this is where I learned everything, I learned how to talk, study, play basketball and many more things. So I surely wouldn’t be where I am now.”
