The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked HydroTruck (18-6) in Opole on Wednesday night. Visitors were edged by eighth ranked AZS PO (14-10) 84-82. AZS PO looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by HydroTruck’s players. It was a good game for Hubert Pabian (201-1989) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 8 rebounds. point guard Jakub Kobel (190-1998) contributed with 12 points and 7 assists for the winners. AZS PO’s coach Robert Skibniewski used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Kaheem Ransom (186-1993, college: SHSU) replied with 31 points and 5 assists for HydroTruck. AZS PO moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Kolobrzeg. HydroTruck at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. They share it with Walbrzych. AZS PO is looking forward to face Polonia (#17) in Bytom in the next round which should be an easy win for them. HydroTruck will have a break next round.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Dziki (17-7) against tenth ranked Polonia (13-11) on Wednesday night. Visiting Dziki was defeated by Polonia in Warszawa 81-67. Worth to mention a great performance of Patryk Pelka (202-1989) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 6 rebounds and Jan Piliszczuk who added 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Michal Aleksandrowicz (192-1989) with 15 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Polonia have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Koszalin. Dziki at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. Polonia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dziki will play at home against Turow and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Decka managed to escape with a 1-point win 78-77 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zak. The winners were led by Damian Ciesielski who scored that evening 15 points and 7 assists. Decka’s coach Przemyslaw Luszczewski allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 19 points, 9 assists and 5 steals by Mateusz Kaszowski did not help to save the game for Zak. Decka moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Krosno. Loser Zak dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Polonia W-wa. Decka will meet Miast Szkla (#10) in the next round. Zak will play against SGH in Krakow and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 24: Krosno was smashed by Starogard Gd. on the road 82-63. Tychy lost to Slask 2 on its own court 72-80. Kolobrzeg managed to outperform Zgorzelec in a road game 79-72. Walbrzych managed to beat Bytom at home 82-71. Poznan crushed Lublin 2 on the opponent’s court 107-72. Krakow beat WKK Wroclaw in a home game 81-76.
The most impressive performance of 24th round was 26 points and 7 rebounds by Szymon Sobiech of Krakow.

Koszalin – Pelplin 77-78

A very close game took place in Koszalin (derby !!!) between Decka and Zak. Eleventh ranked Decka (12-12) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Zak (13-11). Decka managed to escape with a 1-point win 78-77 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zak. Decka dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Zak’s 22 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. The winners were led by guard Damian Ciesielski (187-1997) who scored that evening 15 points and 7 assists and swingman Karol Obarek (194-1993) supported him with 18 points. Four Decka players scored in double figures. Decka’s coach Przemyslaw Luszczewski allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Kociewskie Diably had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Wojciech Czerlonko (195-1995) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and American point guard Daniel Venzant (178-1998, college: St.Edward’s) supported him with 16 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Kociewskie Diably players scored in double figures. Even 16 points and 5 rebounds by Michal Jankowski (191-1987, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Miast Szkla. Forward Stanislaw Helinski (198-2000) added 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kociewskie Diably moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Tychy. Loser Miast Szkla dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Pelplin.
