American Linton Acliese III (198-F-1998) put on an amazing game in the last round for league’s leader Olimpi and that’s him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 24-year old forward had a double-double of 30 points and thirteen rebounds, while his team beat Vahakni City (#4, 2-2) 95-90. The game was between two of the league’s top four teams. It allowed Olimpi to consolidate first place in the Caucasus Basketball League. The season is still on an early stage, but Olimpi already had a very good start winning all 4 without losing a single one. In the team’s last game Acliese III had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Olimpi’s top player in his first season with the team. Eastern Washington University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Acliese III is in league’s top in points (6th best: 23.0ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 9.8rpg) and averages solid 60.4% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was young American guard Avi Toomer (190-G-1997) of second-ranked Delta. Toomer impressed basketball fans with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Of course he led Delta to another comfortable win 101-87 over New Bayazet (1-1) being unquestionably team leader. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let’s wait for the next round. Toomer is a newcomer at Delta and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team’s leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.5ppg (#4). His other stats are also decent: 6.0rpg and 4.3apg. Bucknell University alumni Toomer played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.

The third best performed player last round was American Jamal Poplar (204-F/C-1996) of Cilicia (#8). Poplar scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Despite Poplar’s great performance Cilicia lost 80-89 to Olimpi (#1, 4-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Cilicia can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 3 games.Poplar has individually a great season in Caucasus Basketball League. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in rebounds with 10.3rpg (#1 in league). Poplar attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.

8. Kaleb Hunter (193-G) of Mad Foxes – 19 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Gegi Baqradze (206-C-1994) of Delta – 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Otar Pkhakadze (188-PG-1993) of Delta – 22 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
