China advanced to the World Cup as they defeated Iran 81-72. Trailing 20-21 at the end of the first period, China replied with a 22-13 rally in the second period. Moreover, the guests added an 18-17 rally in the third quarter, whilst both teams delivered 21 points each in the last stanza.
Zhelin Wang (214-C-1994) stepped up with 23 points and Qian Wu (188-PG-1994) had 13. Rui Zhao (195-SG-1996) delivered 12, whilst Peng Zhou (206-SF-1989) poured in 11. Behnam Yakhchali (196-SG-1995, agency: BIG) answered with 24 points in the losing effort and Hamed EHaddadi scored 14.
