Nemanja Zigon
Guard Nemanja Zigon (191-G-1996) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Star NS, receiving a Hoops Agents 2MLS Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 26-year old player was the main contributor (31 points, eight rebounds) to his team’s victory, helping them to crush Mladost SP (#2, 1-1) with 16-point margin 93-77. It allowed Star NS to take over top position in the Serbian 2MLS. But it’s just the very beginning of the season and Star NS won both games without losing any. It’s too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team’s last game Zigon had a remarkable 87.5% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He turned to be Star NS’s top player in his first season with the team.
The second best player in last round’s games was young Edin Veskovic (196-F-1993) of Zitko Basket. Veskovic had a very good evening with a double-double of 30 points and 13 rebounds. It was enough for Zitko Basket to edge Radnicki 1950 (0-2) 91-88. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let’s wait for the next round. Veskovic is well-known at Zitko Basket and is a proven leader in his second season with the team.
Third on the list of top players last round was forward Vuk Borovicanin (203-F-2001) of Beko (#7). Borovicanin got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for fourteen rebounds and six assists. Despite Borovicanin’s great performance Beko lost 87-99 to Slodes BG (#4, 2-0). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The season just started for Borovicanin as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team’s leader.

5. Ognjen Matovic (198-F-2004) of Borac ZM – 24 points and 9 rebounds
6. Nikola Djonlic (184-PG-1993) of Pirot – 25 points and 8 assists
7. Danilo Krstic (202-F-1999) of Klik A. – 17 points and 11 rebounds
8. Martin Nikolov (2001) of Radnik SU – 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Bogdan Riznic (201-G/F-1990) of Zitko Basket – 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists
10. Petar Sparovic (175-PG-1989) of Mladost SP – 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists
The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
