Stavros Toutziarakis

Experienced Stavros Toutziarakis (210-C-1987) put on an amazing game in the last round for league’s second-best Eleftheroupoli and that’s him to receive a Hoops Agents A2 Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 35-year old center had a double-double of 18 points and eleven rebounds, while his team outclassed, the league’s bottom-ranked team FEA Filadelfeia (#13, 0-2) with 26-point margin 99-73. Eleftheroupoli is placed at 2nd position in Greek A2. But it’s just the very beginning of the season and Eleftheroupoli won both games without losing any. It’s too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. It’s Toutziarakis’ second year at Eleftheroupoli and it’s hard to imagine this team without him.

The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was young power forward Efstratios Kalogerias (208-F/C-1997) of Amyntas. Kalogerias impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as Amyntas lost that game 75-83 to Panerythraikos (2-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let’s wait for the next round. Kalogerias is a newcomer at Amyntas and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team’s leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American AJ John (202-F-1996, agency: MSG) of Agriniou (#10). John scored 28 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). Despite John’s great performance Agriniou lost 85-90 to Charilaos (1-1). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Agriniou needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 1 victory and 1 lost game. John has a great season in Greece. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in points with 22.0ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 8.0rpg (6th best).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
