PBC CSKA Moscow (VTB United League) re-signed experienced 37-year-old ex-international 202cm small forward Nikita Kurbanov for the 2024-25 season. He has played there for the last nine seasons, helping them win the VTB United League championship seven times.
Kurbanov was also a member of the Russian international program for some years. He played for Russian Senior National Team between 2009 and 2019 and previously for the Under 20 National Team back in 2005.
Kurbanov also represented Russia at the World Cup in China five years ago. Kurbanov’s team got to the Semifinals and he had almost 10 ppg.
He has spent his entire career in Russia playing for three other teams: Spartak, UNICS Kazan, and Lokomotiv.
Among many awards, he was voted Eurobasket.com All-VTB League Defensive Player of the Year back in 2017. Kurbanov is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of the last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at PBC CSKA Moscow.
