Mersin BBGSK (TBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 33-year old Lithuanian ex-international center Evaldas Kairys (207cm-105kg-1990). Kairys started the season at Coviran Granada in Spanish Liga Endesa. In 18 games he recorded 5.3ppg and 2.4rpg.
He was a member of Lithuanian international program for some years. Kairys was called to Lithuanian Senior National Team between 2017 and 2020 and previously for U20 National Team back in 2010.
He has played previously professionally in Lithuania (Rytas, MRU Vilnius and Pieno Zvaigzdes Pasvalys) and Turkey (Usak, Buyukcekmece and Afyon). His team was regular season runner-up in Lithuanian League in 2020 and 2023.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted Eurobasket.com All-Lithuanian LKL Defensive Player of the Year back in 2015.
