Shooting guard Matvey Padius (194-SG-2006) had a very impressive game in the last round for MBA Moscow 2nd team, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 30.
The 17-year old player was the main contributor (18 points, nine rebounds and three assists) to his team’s victory, helping them to edge out Zenit-2 (#6, 15-9) 85-83. MBA-2 maintains the 3rd position in Russian VTB-Youth League. They would have been even better if they hadn’t lost a few games earlier this season. MBA-2 will need more victories to improve their 19-7 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Padius as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Matvey Padius averages this season 10.4ppg.

The second best player in last round’s games was young Nikolay Natsvlishvili (195-F-2005) of league’s leader CSKA Moscow 2nd team. Natsvlishvili had a very good evening with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course he led CSKA-2 to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Parma-2 (#8, 11-15) 91-62. This victory allowed CSKA-2 to move up to 1st position in the standings. His team lost just three games this season, while they won 21 matches. Natsvlishvili is a newcomer at CSKA-2, but is already one of team’s top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.1ppg (#5). He also registered 5.5 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was center Vladislav Samukhin (210-C-2004, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) of Zenit Saint Petersburg 2nd team (#6). Samukhin scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Despite Samukhin’s great performance the Zenit-2 lost 83-85 to the higher-ranked MBA-2 (#3, 19-7). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Samukhin has a great season in Russia. After 20 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in rebounds with 8.7rpg (2nd best).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
