We bring you last week’s top performances from Poles who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
   #1. This week’s number one is an international swingman Michal Michalak (196-93, currently plays in Germany). He could not help EWE Baskets (1-0) in their last game. Despite Michalak’s very good performance EWE Baskets was edged 90-88 on the road by the much lower-ranked (#10) s Oliver Baskets.
He was the top scorer with 29 points. Michalak also added 4 rebounds in 34 minutes on the court.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
Michalak has relatively good stats this year: 14.0ppg, 3.7rpg, 2FGP: 45.5%, 3FGP: 41.2% and FT: 68.8% in three games he played so far.
He is currently a member of the Polish senior national team.
   #2. Second place goes to an international swingman Jakub Garbacz (197-94, currently plays in Germany). Garbacz led MBC to a victory against one of league’s weakest teams Crailsheim Merlins (1-2) 116-111 in the German BBL last Sunday.
He scored 17 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
SYNTAINICS MBC Weissenfels (2-1) is placed sixth in the BBL.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
This year Garbacz has relatively solid stats: 14.0ppg, 3.3rpg, 3FGP: 32.0% and FT: 75.0%.
He is in the roster of the Polish senior national team.
   #3. The Polish player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international guard David Logan (184-82, college: Indianapolis, currently plays in Italy). Logan contributed to a 3-point Sassari‘s victory against the sixth-ranked Reggio Emilia (2-1) 96-93 in the Italian Serie A on Sunday night.
He scored 13 points in 29 minutes.
Banco di Sardegna Sassari (4-0) is placed first in the Serie A.
So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Logan has reliable stats this year: 11.3ppg, 1.7rpg, 2.7apg, 2FGP: 30.8%, 3FGP: 34.8% in three games.
He is a naturalized American.
Logan played for the Polish national team twelve years ago.
He used to play for WTK Anwil Wloclawek in Polish league.

   #4. Small forward Mateusz Ponitka (198-93, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to help Zenit in their game against CSKA (3-1) in the Euroleague.
Ponitka scored 5 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists.
Zenit was defeated 77-67 in Moscow by the higher-ranked CSKA (#3).
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
This season Ponitka averages: 3.0ppg, 5.0rpg and 4.3apg.
He is also Polish national team player.

   #5. International center Dominik Olejniczak (213-96, college: FSU, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for Gravelines-Dunkerque (3-1) in their last game. Despite Olejniczak’s good performance Gravelines-Dunkerque lost 65-72 in Levallois to the lower-ranked (#4) Metropolitans.
He recorded 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 24 minutes.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
It’s Olejniczak’s first year with the team.
This season Olejniczak’s overall stats are: 5.8ppg and 6.5rpg in four games.
He plays currently for the Polish national team.

   #6. Guard Marcel Ponitka (194-97, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Opava (0-1) crushing them 106-84 in the FIBA Europe Cup on Wednesday night.
Ponitka recorded 9 points and added 4 assists. It was his first game for Parma this season.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. His team is placed first in the FIBA Europe Cup.
Ponitka is an international player who is currently on the senior Polish National Team roster.

   #7. International forward Adam Waczynski (199-89, currently plays in Spain) couldn’t help Zaragoza (1-2) in their last game. Despite Waczynski’s good performance Zaragoza was crushed 90-65 on the opponent’s court by the lower-ranked (#9) Tenerife.
He was the second best scorer with 14 points in 20 minutes.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
This year Waczynski’s total stats are: 9.8ppg and 2.5rpg in six games.
He is also Polish national team player.

   #8. Center Aleksander Balcerowski (218-0, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in ABA League) contributed to a 1-point Mega BG‘s victory against the tenth-ranked Krka (1-2) 73-72 in the ABA League in Sunday night’s game.
Balcerowski scored 11 points.
BC Mega Basket Beograd (2-1) is placed sixth in the ABA League.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Balcerowski’s stats this season are: 11.3ppg and 4.3rpg.
He plays currently for the Polish national team.

   #9. International swingman Michal Sokolowski (196-92, currently plays in Italy) couldn’t help Treviso in their game against Napoli (1-2) in the Italian Serie A.
Sokolowski scored 5 points in 28 minutes.
His team lost 70-82 on the opponent’s court to the much lower-ranked (#11) Napoli.
Sokolowski’s stats this year are: 10.3ppg, 2.7rpg and 2.0apg in three games.
He is also in the roster of the Polish national team.

   #10. Shooting guard Dardan Berisha (190-88, currently plays in Kosovo) was the major contributor in Peja‘s victory against the league outsider Drita (0-6) 91-81 in the Kosovan Superliga in Thursday night’s game.
Berisha scored 20 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 40 minutes.
KB Peja (5-1) is placed first in the Superliga.
Berisha has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 22.5ppg, 4.8rpg, 4.3apg and 1.8spg in six games.
Berisha is a former international player as six years ago he still played for the Polish senior national team.

   #11. Former international center Adam Lapeta (217-87, currently plays in Lithuania) managed to help Dzukija Alytus to win against the closely-ranked Nevezis 81-66 in the Lithuanian LKL last Monday.
He scored only 2 points, had 8 rebounds and made 2 blocks.
Lapeta has averaged so far 5.0ppg, 8.4rpg, 1.2apg and 1.8bpg.
He used to play for the Polish national team
five years ago.

   #12. International shooting guard A.J. Slaughter (191-87, college: WKU, currently plays in Spain) couldn’t help Gran Canaria in their game against Andorra in the Spanish Liga Endesa.
Slaughter scored only 4 points in 27 minutes.
His team was badly defeated by 16 points 87-71.
Slaughter averaged so far 11.2ppg, 1.6rpg, 3.0apg and 1.2spg in five games.
He is a naturalized American.
Slaughter is also in the roster of the Polish national team.
Strangely he has never played in Poland.

   #13. Former international forward Mathieu Wojciechowski (200-92, currently plays in France) couldn’t help Le Portel in their game against Limoges CSP Elite in the French Betclic ELITE ProA.
Wojciechowski scored 7 points and blocked 2 blocks.
His team was defeated 77-64.
Wojciechowski has averaged so far 7.0ppg, 3.8rpg and 1.3apg.
He used to play for the Polish national team
two years ago.

   #14. U20 international forward Filip Siewruk (202-2, currently plays in Spain) couldn’t help Villarrobledo in their game against Cornella in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division).
He recorded 9 points in 28 minutes. It was his first game for Villarrobledo this season.
His team was crushed by 23 points 86-63.
Siewruk plays currently for the Polish U20 national team.

   #15. Former U16 international swingman Piotr Pandura (197-95, currently plays in BNXT-League) couldn’t help Hague in their game against Den Helder in the BNXT League. He cannot count Wednesday’s game as one of the best ones.
Pandura scored only 2 points.
His team was defeated 89-79.
This season Pandura averages just 0.8ppg.
He used to play for the Polish U16 national team
ten years ago.

The list of other players, who all have Polish passport but never been selected to any of Polish national teams:

   #1. Experienced Oded Brandwein (179-PG-88, currently plays in Israel) managed to help Maccabi Playtika Tel-Aviv in a victory against the tenth-ranked Hapoel Haifa (0-1) crushing them 84-59 in the Israeli Winner League in Saturday night’s game.
He recorded only 4 points and added 3 assists in 8 minutes on the court. It was his first game for Maccabi Tel-Aviv this season.
His team is placed sixth in the Winner League.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Brandwein has a dual citizenship: Polish and Israeli.

   #2. Juan Pablo Vaulet (198-SF-96, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Greece) led AEK to a victory against the eighth-ranked Larissa BC (1-1) 81-69 in the Greek A1 last Saturday.
He scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
AEK Athens (1-1) is placed fourth in the A1.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
It’s Vaulet’s first year with the team.
Vaulet’s stats this season are: 11.0ppg, 5.0rpg and 2.0spg.
He is another player who holds two passports: Polish and Argentinian.

   #3. Yovel Zoosman (198-SF-98, currently plays in Euroleague). Zoosman could not help ALBA Berlin (1-3) to beat Baskonia (2-2).
He recorded 9 points.
But ALBA Berlin was defeated 80-76 on the road by the higher-ranked Baskonia (#11).
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
It’s Zoosman’s first year with the team.
Zoosman has averaged so far 6.8ppg, 2.8rpg, 1.3apg and 1.3spg.
He has both Polish and Israeli nationalities.

   #4. Nimrod Tishman (197-PG-91, agency: Avi Zilberman, currently plays in Israel) was not able to help Ironi Nes-Ziona in their game against Hapoel Eilat (1-0) in the Israeli Winner League.
Tishman recorded only 4 points in 17 minutes. It was his first game for Ironi Nes-Ziona this season.
Ironi Nes-Ziona was crushed 104-80 in Eilat by the much higher-ranked (#3) Hapoel.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Tishman also holds two passports: Polish and Israeli.

   #5. Oskars Hlebovickis (196-SF-0, currently plays in LAT-EST BL) was not able to secure a victory for Liepaja (1-2) in their game against LU (3-0) in the Lat-Est BL.
He scored 5 points.
Liepaja was defeated 77-72 at home by the leading LU.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
This season Hlebovickis averages only 2.7ppg.
He has Latvian and Polish nationalities.

   #6. Pawel Robak (185-SG-96, currently plays in Spain) couldn’t help Andujar in their game against Estepona in the Spanish EBA (fourth division).
Robak recorded 8 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks in 23 minutes.
His team lost 63-76.
Robak has averaged so far 8.0ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.5spg in two games he played so far.

   #7. Yehonatan Yam (182-PG-99, currently plays in Israel) contributed to a 3-point Ramat Hasharon‘s victory against the 13th-ranked M.Haifa 89-86 in the Israeli National League (second division) last Tuesday.
He recorded 9 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. It was his first game for Ramat Hasharon this season.
Yam holds both Israeli and Polish passports.

   #8. Maciek Klimaszewski (205-C-95, currently plays in Iceland) couldn’t help Hamar (1-1) in their last game. Despite Klimaszewski’s good performance Hamar was crushed 98-68 on their home court in Hamar by the second-ranked Hottur.
He was the second best scorer with 10 points. Klimaszewski also added 5 rebounds in 21 minutes.
Klimaszewski has averaged so far 5.0ppg and 3.0rpg in four games.
He holds both Polish and Icelandic passports.
Despite Klimaszewski’s Polish nationality, he previously played for the Icelandic U18 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Polish team.

   #9. Slawomir Klocek (192-PF-84, currently plays in Germany) couldn’t help Mannheim in their game against Reutlingen in the German Regionalliga (fourth division).
Klocek recorded only 4 points.
His team was defeated 85-81.
Klocek has averaged so far 5.5ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.5spg.
