It’s still too early stage of the Regular Season in BBL, but even now we can clearly see the difference between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The biggest surprise of round 7 took place in Oldenburg where guest ratiopharm Ulm (#1) beat lower ranked EWE Baskets (#2) by 4 points 98-94 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of EWE Baskets. It was a key game for the top position in the league. ratiopharm Ulm looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. American guard Dakota Mathias (193-1995, college: Purdue) fired 25 points for the winners. Spanish point guard Juan Nunez (192-2004) chipped in 6 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists. American point guard DeWayne Russell (180-1994, college: GCU) produced 21 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for lost side. ratiopharm Ulm maintains first place with 6-1 record, which they share with ALBA and Chemnitz. EWE Baskets at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Vechta. ratiopharm Ulm is looking forward to face s Oliver Baskets (#10) in Wuerzburg in the next round and are hoping to win another game. EWE Baskets will play at home against Rasta Vechta (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked MBC managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time they won against twelfth-ranked Seawolves in Rostock 97-85. And what about a second win in a row after …five consecutive losses. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Diante Baldwin (180-1994, college: UNCG) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Martin Breunig contributed with 14 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners. American Derrick Alston Jr (206-1997, college: Boise St.) answered with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for Seawolves. Seawolves’ coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. MBC (2-5) moved-up to fourteenth place. Seawolves at the other side keep the twelfth position with four games lost. They share it with Bamberg. MBC will play against higher ranked ALBA Berlin (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Seawolves will play against the league’s second-placed Chemnitz (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.

Worth to mention a quality performance of Tommy Kuhse who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). At the losing side James Murray-Boyles responded with 8 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rasta Vechta moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Oldenburg. Hakro Merlins lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Heidelberg and Tuebingen. Rasta Vechta will meet EWE Baskets (#4) in the next round. Hakro Merlins will play against MLP Academics Heidelberg (#17) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 7 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Hamburg defeated Goettingen in a road game 123-118. Heidelberg was smashed by Wuerzburg at home 54-87. Braunschweig was destroyed by ALBA on the opponent’s court 92-64. Bamberg unfortunately lost to Ludwigsburg in a home game 90-102. Bayern recorded a loss to Bonn on the road 83-88. Tuebingen was crushed by Chemnitz on its own court 68-106.
The best stats of 7th round was 23 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals by DeAndre Lansdowne of Chemnitz.



Rostock – Weissenfels 85-97

Bottom-ranked MBC managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time they won against twelfth-ranked Seawolves in Rostock 97-85. And what about a second win in a row after …five consecutive losses. MBC dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Seawolves‘ 34. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Diante Baldwin (180-1994, college: UNCG) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Four MBC players scored in double figures. American Derrick Alston Jr (206-1997, college: Boise St.) answered with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import swingman Eric Lockett (196-1995, college: NC State) added 18 points (made all of his eight free throws) in the effort for Seawolves. Seawolves’ coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. MBC (2-5) moved-up to fourteenth place. Seawolves at the other side keep the twelfth position with four games lost. They share it with Bamberg. MBC will play against higher ranked ALBA Berlin (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Seawolves will play against the league’s second-placed Chemnitz (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.

Goettingen – Hamburg 118-123

There was no surprise when 15th ranked BG Goettingen (1-4) was defeated at home by tenth ranked Hamburg Towers (4-3) 123-118 on Saturday. Hamburg Towers looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. It was a great evening for the former international Lukas Meisner (203-1995, college: Columbia) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Aljami Durham (193-1998, college: Providence) helped adding 15 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Hamburg Towers’ coach Benka Barloschky used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American guard Umoja Gibson (185-1998, college: DePaul) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists and Australian forward Grant Anticevich (206-1999, college: California) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Hamburg Towers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Bayern and Bonn. BG Goettingen lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with four games lost. Hamburg Towers will meet at home Brose Bamberg (#12) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. BG Goettingen will play against Telekom Baskets and hope to win that game.

Tigers’ coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Chemnitz have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with ALBA and Ulm. Tigers lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom place with six games lost. They share the position with Heidelberg and Crailsheim. Chemnitz will meet at home Seawolves (#13) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Tigers will play against Braunschweig (#11) and hope to win that game.
