Minnesota have released an official statement regarding Anthony Edwards assault charges that occurred after the Timberwolves Game 5 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night.
“We are aware of the alleged incident regarding Anthony Edwards following Game 5 in Denver and are in the process of gathering more information. We have no further comment at this moment,” the team said in a press release.
Edwards has been cited with third-degree assault after he allegedly injured two female workers at Ball Arena.
The 21-year-old missed the final shot that would have tied the game and sent it to OT and following that, he ran off the court into the tunnel.

“A law enforcement source said Edwards picked up a chair and swung it, striking a security guard in the back,” Denver Sports’ Jake Shapiro wrote. “Then the thrown chair also hit a second worker. A source confirmed the incident and said both employees were injured and asked to file charges.
“Denver Police reportedly held the T-Wolves bus up following the game to cite Edwards, according to a source on the scene.”
According to Colorado law, third-degree assault carries a punishment of up to 18 months jail and or a $1000 fine and is a class-1 misdemeanor.
It is definitely not a good look for one of the most talented young stars in the game, who has yet to speak out about the incident.
