So far there has been little progress in the Damian Lillard trade talks following the superstar’s request to be traded. NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Trail Blazers have not been satisfied with what the Heat – Lillard’s chosen destination – have offered.
“Right now Portland looks at what Miami has and that is not what they believe should be the return for a player the stature,” Woj said on NBA Today. “In their mind the value of Damian Lillard – that’s two future first-round picks, some pick swaps, Tyler Herro is the best player available in that deal.
“They wouldn’t want Tyler Herro, they would need a third team to take him on and then send them assets. But the way Portland looks at it, that wouldn’t be enough for what they want for Damian Lillard.”
According to Wojnarowski, the next step for Portland is general manager Joe Cronin travelling to Las Vegas and having in-person conversations with other general managers.
“I think to Joe Cronin, the Blazers GM, getting to Vegas, sitting down with other GMs face to dace and having those kind of conversations, I think that’s productive. I think that’s the next step in this,” he said.
