Netflix’s releases Starting 5 today, giving us an in depth look into the lives of LeBron James, Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards, Domantas Sabonis and Jayson Tatum.
The ten-part miniseries will give us a look into these players lives off the court unlike we have ever seen before. Netflix has done two of these types of series before with the NFL, one detailing the lives of quarterbacks and the other, receivers.
So what can we expect from Tatum’s portion of the series?
First, there’s a lot of Deuce content.
We have all been watching Deuce Tatum for years now. Born two months after JT’s NBA debut, Deuce has been roaming courtside at Celtics games for years now.
Secondly is Tatum’s inner circle of people.
If you haven’t read The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach’s piece on Tatum’s close relationship with trainer Nick Sang, you should.
We have seen a lot of Tatum’s people over the years but strictly as background characters. We obviously know his mom and son but I am excited to get to learn about the other people in his inner circle, including Sang and Celtics assistant coach, and former college teammate Amile Jefferson.
The last thing I am excited for is, of course, Banner 18!
I am always going to be on board with anything that gives me more championship content and this is no different.
I want every single playoff win in the series, but some regular season games I am hoping they put in are the Opening Night win at Madison Square Garden, the Christmas Day win against the Lakers, all the wins vs. the Heat, and the 50-point beatdown of the Warriors.
What are you most excited for?
