After two games on the road, the Ohio Bobcats are heading back home. The Bobcats and the Kent State Golden Flashes will face off in a Mid-American battle at 6:30 p.m. ET on Friday at Convocation Center. The teams split their matchups last year, with Kent State winning the first 89-79 and Ohio taking the second 85-63.
Even if it wasn’t a dominant performance, Ohio beat the Akron Zips 69-63 on Tuesday. Ohio can attribute much of their success to guard Mark Sears, who had 24 points and five assists in addition to eight boards.
Meanwhile, the Ball State Cardinals typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Kent State proved too difficult a challenge. The Golden Flashes escaped with a win by the margin of a single free throw, 66-65. Having forecasted a close win for them, the oddsmakers were right on the money. It was another big night for Kent State’s guard Sincere Carry, who had 26 points and six assists along with seven rebounds.
Everything went the Bobcats’ way against Kent State when the two teams previously met in March of last year as they made off with an 85-63 victory. Ohio’s victory shoved Kent State out of the playoffs, so they have a target on their back.
