Thomas Bryant had the internet in stitches when videos circulated of him screaming for the ball right as LeBron James was taking the shot that made him the NBA’s all-time leading scorer back in February.
Everyone had even more fun with the whole thing when Bryant requested a trade out of LA in the following weeks.

Now, Bryant has finally explained what was going through his mind at that moment.
“I didn’t even notice that was the shot though,” Bryant said in a video posted to X. “… When Bron says, ‘If I see you on that wing, you got a smaller defender, get yo a– in that post, dive, call for the ball.’ So, I’m doing what he told me to do, and I’m looking around. I’m like, right before he shot the ball, I’m like, ‘Why’s everybody camera out?’
“I see everybody’s camera out. I’m like, ‘Don’t he got four, six more points to go?’ The next thing you know, he shoots it and put his hands up.”
It was an honest mistake by Bryant, but a hugely viral one nonetheless.
But things worked out just fine for the former Indiana Hoosier, who moved from LA to Denver and got himself a championship ring for his troubles.
After two stints with the Lakers, four years in Washington and a cup of coffee with the Nuggets, Bryant is now with the Miami Heat where he is averaging 7.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game over the first six games of the season.
