Steve Kerr Hints at Lineup Change Amid Losing Streak

Despite Steve Kerr saying just days ago that he had “zero thought” about changing the Warriors starting lineup, he may have pivoted.

The Warriors suffered their fourth straight defeat on Tuesday night and their head coach Kerr conceded that a change could be imminent.

“Yeah, it’s a possibility,” Kerr told reporters after the Warriors 104-101 loss to the Timberwolves. “You know, we love the lineup that we’ve started the last couple of years and we want to give that unit every opportunity to get going and we know when [Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson] are shooting the ball well, that lineup makes perfect sense.”

Thing is, Klay and Wiggins are both struggling to connect on their shooting.

Wiggins is shooting at 39.5 percent from the field and just 15.9 percent from three to start the season.

While Klay is a little better on 42.3 percent from the field and 34.2 percent from three.

Kerr says he has “two full seasons” to show how good that starting lineup can be, but considering Thompson and Wiggins were also inconsistent at the end of last season, things may need a shakeup if this trend continues.

Someone that may be able to help the Warriors scoring woes is rookie Brandin Podziemski.

The head coach was impressed with his career-high 23 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists against Minnesota.

Kerr kept him on the court for a whopping 39 minutes and after the game proclaimed, “He’s gonna play every night.”

“I think he can play backup point guard,” Kerr continued. “But I think he’s just a basketball player. So we can play him anywhere. The beauty of him is that the game connects when he’s out there. I’m excited to see him play with Steph and Klay. He’s gonna get those guys a lot of shots just with the way he plays, and the way the ball moves. So we’ll see. We’ll have to figure it out.”
