Sixers potential targets include Zach LaVine, OG Anunoby, Donovan Mitchell, Bojan Bogdanovic

Michael Scotto: Some potential targets to keep an eye on for Philadelphia include Zach LaVine, who can spread the floor and OG Anunoby, who is loved by coach Nick Nurse, which I think is important. He offers two-way versatility on both sides of the ball, and the 76ers will have the necessary cap space to re-sign him this summer. Other names Philadelphia will monitor include Cavaliers All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell and Pistons forward Bojan Bogdanovic, I’m told.

I’ve seen people suggest OG Anunoby as a Sixers target. Something to keep in mind there is that there’s some value in trading for him early if possible because his cap hold (around $28 million) is lower than his market value.

More on this storyline

According to a source close to the situation, the Bulls have no intention of trading LaVine anytime soon, and even if that changes — a big if — it’s unlikely that the 76ers fit the profile of what the Bulls would be looking for in return. But this is the space the Bulls and coach Billy Donovan will have to work in this season, courtesy of the front office’s decision to bring the core of the roster back, despite two-plus years of underachieving. -via Chicago Sun-Times / November 2, 2023
One positive for the Bulls was DeRozan had 16 points to surpass Larry Bird for 38th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. DeRozan also was a trade candidate coming into the season. “It’s just hard to believe that I’m even at the number I’m at,’’ DeRozan said of the milestone. “To be sitting anywhere past any type of legend [like Bird] is beyond an honor to me.’’ -via Chicago Sun-Times / November 2, 2023
Julia Poe: Kyrie Irving downgraded to doubtful tonight. Zach LaVine is probable, said he was good to go this morning. Back injury happened during a collision with Poeltl in the Raptors game. He’s been using heat packs a lot this week, but he’s still not worried about it long term. -via Twitter @byjuliapoe / November 1, 2023
Mike Curtis: #Pistons say Bojan Bogdanovic will remain out with a right calf strain. He’ll be reevaluated in 4 weeks. Monte Morris suffered a right quad strain during a recent rehab session. He’ll be reevaluated in 3 weeks. Isaiah Livers is making progress. He’ll be reevaluated in 4 weeks. -via Twitter @MikeACurtis2 / October 24, 2023
Mike Curtis: Monty Williams says Bojan Bogdanovic and Monte Morris will not play on Wednesday. Says everyday they “get closer,” but the vets won’t play in the season opener. -via Twitter @MikeACurtis2 / October 22, 2023
Anunoby is currently extension-eligible but is limited to four years, $116.9 million, which would give him an annual salary of $29.2 million. He could earn more than that on the open market thanks to his theoretical fit on just about any team. The Sixers could sign him outright, but there’s a strong chance that he will need to be acquired via trade since there should be plenty of the teams projected to be over the cap that will pursue him. -via HoopsHype / November 1, 2023
Chris Fedor: #Cavs Caris LeVert WILL PLAY, sources tell @clevelanddotcom. Also, sources say, Cavs will make another starting lineup change. It will be Donovan Mitchell, Isaac Okoro, Max Strus, Georges Niang (his first start with Cleveland) and Evan Mobley. The fourth different starting group. -via Twitter @ChrisFedor / November 1, 2023
Tommy Beer: Jarrett Allen (ankle bone bruise), Ty Jerome (ankle sprain) and Darius Garland (hamstring strain) have been ruled OUT tonight against the Knicks. Caris LeVert (hamstring) is questionable Donovan Mitchell has been removed from the injury report. -via Twitter @TommyBeer / November 1, 2023
Tuesday’s 109-91 blowout defeat to the Knicks — which followed the Cavs getting pummeled in the playoffs by New York — was probably a factor. “You always have that game circled. But at the end of the day, we lost. Move on,” Mitchell said. “It’s a new year. We’re competitors for sure. When you lose to a team like that you want to go out there and get it but we got to go out and get one [Wednesday]. And if not, we have to move on with this season. A much as we continue to harp on what happened last season, neither of us won the championship.” -via New York Post / November 1, 2023
