The Milwaukee Bucks have their eyes set on Eric Gordon, with the club looking to replicate a key acquisition they made from the past few years.
Per league insider Marc Stein, the Bucks are looking at the 2019 trade framework they completed to gain Nikola Mirotic, and attempting to take it again this time by potentially netting Gordon.
The ball club back then shipped four second-round picks as part of their package to the New Orleans Pelicans just to acquire the Spanish big man.
As such, added by Stein, the Bucks offered four second-round selections to the Houston Rockets for Gordon, but the latter declined and still clinging to their hopes of having a first-round pick in return.
From the previous seasons of their rebuild, the Rockets have been expressive of their intentions to obtain a first-round pick as an exchange for Gordon, who has been on them since 2016-2017 and is now the sole veteran of the team around its youth program bannered by Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green.
With Gordon having a sizable $19.5 million salary this season, Milwaukee will be required to give up more assets to match his salary on a probable deal. It may be necessary for them to let go of Grayson Allen ($8.5 million) to shoulder the heavier chunk of salary-matching purposes.
Being one of the feared and legit title contenders with Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks are certainly looking to modify themselves before hitting the postseason stage. Having Gordon can at least allow them to have an additional scoring option, but the former Sixth Man of the Year may not solve the club’s needed length and defensive presence at the wing.
