Both Spencer Dinwiddie and Kyle Kuzma are at the helm of the NBA buzz this week as they continue to trade barbs across social media. Their drama reached new heights on Thursday, when the veteran guard tried to deflect Kuzma’s claim against him that he hasn’t won anything yet and the Brooklyn Nets just made it to the Playoffs this 2022-23 because of the first-half season efforts of both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
“Some people are blessed to be in situations. We don’t get mad at Rick Fox for winning a championship with Kobe and Shaq. Some people are blessed, but we can’t act like Rick Fox led them to a championship,” Dinwiddie said, dissing Kuzma’s role in the 2020 NBA title of the L.A. Lakers with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
The inclusion made by Dinwiddie on Rick Fox triggered reactions amongst fans around the league. As such, this ultimately prompted the retired cager to defend his case.
On Friday, Fox didn’t tolerate any disrespect in his name in wake of Dinwiddie referencing him in his ongoing boiling rivalry against Kyle Kuzma, delivering a Twitter post with a picture thats shows him, Shaquille O’Neal and the late great Kobe Bryant holding each trophies of their three-peat reigns in the early 2000s. Fox penned down a caption: “this is a photo of the 3 Captains that @PhilJackson11 chose to lead his @Lakers Teams to Back2Back2Back Championships ~Who is @RickFox? I AM #TheOther #TheEnforcer” and ended it with “KEYS: #DefenseWinsChampionships”
Dinwiddie is yet to fire his rebuttal on this new little feud he created on Fox. As such, the ex-Canadian basketball star made a splash to respond against the Nets’ guard’s referral of him.
While he doesn’t hold that household name around the league in Los Angeles’ dominance from 2000 to 2002, real fans and the purple and gold fandom won’t ever forget Fox and his contribution to the dynastic Lakers team. While Bryant and O’Neal have taken that starring roles, it was Fox who served as the important glue guy of the L.A. lineup with his reliable shooting, versatility, and leadership as their starting small forward.
It appears that Dinwiddie made that mistake of pulling Fox into his beef with Kuzma. As one of the franchise’s greatest role players, Fox will always command respect and admiration amongst old school fans and the entire Laker faithful.
