Panathinaikos inks point guard Jovic – News

Panathinaikos OPAP Athens bolstered its frontcourt by inking experienced playmaker Stefan Jovic for the remainder of the season, with an option to extend his contract until the end of the 2022-23 campaign, the club announced Friday. Jovic (1.98 meters, 31 years old) last played with Khimki Moscow Region where he appeared in eight EuroLeague games last season and posted 4.4 points, 3.8 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 steal. He also had 6.3 points and 3.0 assists in three VTB United League appearances. Jovic is a veteran of six EuroLeague seasons – the first three came with Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade followed by one with FC Bayern Munich and the last two with Khimki. He has appeared in 123 games in the competition and also shares the EuroLeague’s single-game assists record with 19, which he set while playing for Zvezda against Bayern on November 12, 2015.

During his time with Zvezda, Jovic helped the team win three consecutive Adriatic League titles and three straight Serbian League crowns from 2015 to 2017 in addition to the Serbian Cup in 2015 and 2017 and an appearance in the EuroLeague Playoffs in 2016. Jovic then helped Bayern win a pair of German championships and the German Cup. Jovic has won silver medals at the 2016 Olympic Games and EuroBasket 2017 with the Serbian national team. He started his career with Sloga Kraljevo and also played for Radnicki Kragujevac.
