Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle has entered COVID-19 health and safety protocols and could miss multiple games, according to Shams Charania.
It was reported earlier today that the Pacers canceled practice out of an “abundance of caution” and Carlisle’s situation is presumably why they did so.
Carlisle, 62, had a positive result on a rapid test after last night’s win over the New York Knicks and he then took a PCR test today to confirm, but that result isn’t expected until Friday, according to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.
The Pacers have four games in the next week against the Dallas Mavericks (Dec. 10), Golden State Warriors (Dec. 13), Milwaukee Bucks (Dec. 15) and Detroit Pistons (Dec. 16).
If Carlisle is forced to miss any games, assistant coach and former Atlanta Hawks head coach Lloyd Pierce will coach the team, notes Adrian Wojnarowski.
Pacers’ Justin Holiday has also missed the last four games (and will continue to be out until sometime later this month) due to being in health and safety protocols.
