After his first MVP title last year, Nikola Jokic is on pace to win another one this season. He, along with Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo, are regarded as the top favorites for the award.
But the Serbian center is not focused on that. Instead, Jokic says he is trying to stay humble and to win basketball games.
“To be honest, I think there is a lot of guys that are playing at an extremely high level. … I’m just trying to be humble, to stay on the ground. … I don’t think about that to be honest, am I one of the best? I’m just trying to win the game,” Jokic said, per Mike Singer.
This season Jokic is averaging 27 points, 13.7 rebounds and 7.9 assists per game. He has increased his numbers in points and rebounds compared with his MVP season.
In addition, Jokic has just become the first player in NBA history with 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, and 500 assists in a single season.
