According to Chris Haynes, LeBron James is considering retirement after getting swept in the Western Conference Finals by the Denver Nuggets.
LeBron, 38, declined to delve deep into questions about next season in his post-game conference last night but said that he has a lot of thinking to do.
NBA Twitter, however, isn’t buying into the idea that the ‘King’ may actually retire this year.
This may be a reach, but I’m calling it. Lebron retires for one year, then comes back in 24-25 season to play for whoever drafts Bronny.

LeBron not retiring but him contemplating it isn’t a shock to me, and is probably somewhat real. Foot is gonna need surgery, and you’re looking at ANOTHER offseason of working out to grind another six month season in hopes of another deep playoff run. He turns 39 this year..

Mike Malone going to lose his mind when he turn on ESPN tomorrow morning and they taking about Lebron retiring and not Nuggets going to the finals.

Nah, LeBron ain’t retiring. He’s gonna be back next with AD and Kyrie. 🤞🏼
— Ryan Rueda (@iDude14) May 23, 2023
I’ll give LeBron 2 more seasons max.
He’ll either play a season with Bronny or have a farewell tour this upcoming season.
I just can’t see him retiring without a farewell tour. There’s no way.

LeBron retiring for a year to let his body recover fully and wait for Bronny to join the NBA could be smart and extend his playing time
— Top Ball Coverage (@TopBallCoverage) May 23, 2023
LeBron retiring for a year to heal his foot then he’s coming back to play with Bronny book it
— 100T Enable (@Enable) May 23, 2023
LeBron isn’t retiring until he steps on that court with Bronny. They’re blowing that quote way out of proportion 💀
— Masked 🎭 (@MaskedInLA) May 23, 2023
I don’t think LeBron is retiring obviously. But he’s rather putting pressure on the front office or he’s actually requesting a trade. We’ll see.
— GoldenKnight (@GoldenKnightGFX) May 23, 2023
Man, it sure sounded like LeBron just said he will consider retiring.

I will log off of the internet and throw my phone in a river the day Lebron James announces he’s retiring.

Mike Malone is gonna flip out when he realizes we don’t care about the Nuggets finals and we’re all discussing if Lebron is retiring or not.
— Jake (@KingJakeVII) May 23, 2023
Melo retired today. LeBron talking about possibly retiring. Me currently drinking too much tequila for all of this:
— GoldenKnight (@GoldenKnightGFX) May 23, 2023
NAHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Can’t retire now, Bron.
Trade AD for some nice pieces and we’re back again.

If LeBron speaks, I listen.
If LeBron thinks, I agree.
If LeBron has 1,000,000 fans, I am one of them.
If LeBron has 100 fans, I am still one of them.
If LeBron has 1 fan, I am that fan.
If LeBron has no fans, I am no longer alive
If LeBron retires from basketball, I retire too. pic.twitter.com/U8EleQKXP0— JPW (@JWepp) May 23, 2023
LeBron is gonna retire next year and go watch Bronny play every game at USC then un-retire and sign with whoever drafts him? Is that possible lol?
— Alex Wood (@Awood45) May 23, 2023
noo lebron don’t retire you’ve singlehandedly changed the way i’ve consumed and enjoyed basketball throughout my life aha
— Molly Morrison (@mollyhannahm) May 23, 2023
I don’t think LeBron is actually going to retire. I think he’s pressuring the Lakers to try to get Kyrie Irving again.
— Sam Quinn (@SamQuinnCBS) May 23, 2023
Lebron’s evil genius plan:
1) Retire but only for a year
2) Catch Bronny playing at USC
3) Get foot surgery and get healthy
4) Come back in 2024 and sign with Bronny’s NBA team— Jake (@KingJakeVII) May 23, 2023
LeBron James can’t retire before he has a 27/7/7 game
— Kevin O’Connor (@KevinOConnorNBA) May 23, 2023
1) retire for a year
2) watch Bronny at USC
3) recharge the body
4) come back in 2024
5) sign with whatever team drafts Bronnynot a bad strategy at all, to be honest. and he wouldnt end his career getting swept. LeBron is not going to end his career getting swept, right? right? https://t.co/zJ2L7NSD5T

— Mark Jackson’s Burner (@casualtakeking) May 23, 2023
LeBron is about to retire & come back when Bronny is drafted isn’t he? Man…
— GoldenKnight (@GoldenKnightGFX) May 23, 2023
You really think LeBron will abruptly retire without a year-long campaign? Nike wouldn’t allow it.
— Sean Highkin (@highkin) May 23, 2023
LeBron could retire for a year, enjoy life, get fat, try another sport, smoke cigars and then come back for his year with Bronny. I’m told taking a year off is good for your legacy.
— Josh Eberley 🇨🇦 (@JoshEberley) May 23, 2023
Don’t retire LeBron who tf am I supposed to hate on now?????
