Who’s Playing
Golden State @ Orlando
Current Records: Golden State 47-24; Orlando 19-53
What to Know
The Orlando Magic are 3-10 against the Golden State Warriors since February of 2016, but they’ll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Tuesday. Orlando has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Golden State at 7 p.m. ET March 22 at Amway Center. The Magic are out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
Even if it wasn’t a dominant performance, Orlando beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 90-85 on Sunday. Power forward Wendell Carter Jr. was the offensive standout of the game for Orlando, posting a double-double on 30 points and 16 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Golden State was close but no cigar on Sunday as they fell 110-108 to the San Antonio Spurs. Despite the loss, the Warriors had strong showings from shooting guard Jordan Poole, who had 28 points in addition to five boards, and small forward Otto Porter Jr., who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards. Porter Jr. hadn’t helped his team much against the Boston Celtics last week, so this was a nice turnaround for him.
The Magic are expected to lose this next one by 8. Now might not be the best time to take Orlando against the spread since they’ve let down bettors for the past three consecutive games.
Orlando’s win brought them up to 19-53 while Golden State’s defeat pulled them down to 47-24. A pair of numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: Orlando has only been able to knock down 43.40% percent of their shots, which is the third lowest field goal percentage in the league. Golden State’s defense has more to brag about, as they they have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 43.80%, which places them second in the league. So the cards are definitely stacked in their favor.
