More than anything else, Matt Ryan is grateful for the opportunity to represent the Los Angeles Lakers even in a brief time.
Ryan took the pen on Twitter last Thursday and finally sent his warming goodbyes to the Lakers organization and the purple and gold fandom.
Shams Charania of The Athletic was the first one to reveal that the Lakers are moving forward without Ryan, who has an unguaranteed contract with the club this season.
In the short span of wearing the Lakers uniform, Ryan was a fan favorite among the franchise fans. In 12 games he played, he averaged 4.3 points and shot 38.2 percent from three in 2.9 attempts. He notably drained the game-tying three for Los Angeles against the New Orleans Pelicans earlier this month.
The undrafted Ryan was tapped by the Lakers in September for a roster spot following his stint with the Boston Celtics in the previous Summer League.
With his humble beginnings and reliability of stretching the floor, he may give a solid pitch for some teams who are looking for an added firepower from distance.
