With Bronny James committing to USC hours before LeBron James played Game 3 of the Los Angeles Lakers’ second round series against the Golden State Warriors, the elder James was asked about his previous comments about wanting to play the final season of his career alongside his son in the NBA.
After an up and down high school career, Bronny James is now a projected top-10 pick in the 2024 NBA draft.
“I was serious, and I’m still serious about it,” said James.
The question for the father-son duo is now more how many more years LeBron James will choose to play rather than whether Bronny James will be an NBA player.
“If my mind goes, then my body will just be like, ‘OK, what are we doing?'” he said.
Regardless of the loft goals he has for himself and his family, James is trying to stay in the present.
“I’ve done what I’ve had to do in this league,” James said. “My son is going to take his journey. And whatever his journey, however his journey lays out, he’s going to do what’s best for him. And as his dad, and his mom, Savannah, and his brother and sister, we’re going to support him in whatever he decides to do. So, just because that’s my aspiration or my goal, doesn’t mean it’s his. And I’m absolutely OK with that.”
