Lakers legend James Worthy loves the roster LA general manager Rob Pelinka has constructed for the new season, and he’s got his eye on one player in particular.
Speaking with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, Worthy issued a warning to pay close attention to new Lakers guard Gabe Vincent.
“Their moves have been pretty good, but I think that you should watch out for Gabe Vincent from Miami,” Worthy said.
“He’s solid as a rock and when he comes into the game, the Lakers won’t lose a beat at the point guard. He’s the real deal.”
Vincent went undrafted in 2018 before spending two years in the G League, eventually landing a contract with the Miami Heat. In Miami, Vincent was an integral part of last season’s Heat team that unexpectedly went all the way to the NBA Finals.
Much like the rest of his team, Vincent stepped up massively in the postseason.
He opened the finals with 19 points on 50 percent shooting against Denver in Game 1, and followed it with 23 points on 67 percent shooting in Game 2.
Vincent signed a three-year, $33 million deal with the Lakers over the summer.
Other new Lakers signings include Christian Wood, Jaxson Hayes, Taurean Prince and Cam Reddish.
