Lakers and Clippers Players Must Be Vaccinated, Per New Los Angeles Ordinance

Los Angeles Lakers’ and Los Angeles Clippers’ players must be vaccinated against COVID-19, according to a new local ordinance in the district of Los Angeles, per The New York Times.

Los Angeles joins the municipalities of San Francisco and New York as the only municipalities in the NBA to require proof of vaccination.

Golden State Warriors’ forward Andrew Wiggins was vaccinated recently, saying “The only options were to get vaccinated or not play in the NBA,” per ESPN.

Wiggins’ point wasn’t entirely true – he still would have been able to play in road games.

Brooklyn Nets’ guard Kyrie Irving has been away from the team as he’s lulled his thoughts on the vaccines.

Los Angeles likely won’t be the last city to enact a vaccination requirement.

The COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective at preventing serious illness onset by coronavirus infection, per the CDC.

It will be interesting to see how other potential city ordinances could impact the 2021-22 NBA season.
