In 2022, during the Dallas Kimball High School basketball team’s pursuit of the state championship in San Antonio, one of their star players, Kyron Henderson, reportedly brought a gun onto the team bus.
Allegedly, the gun accidentally discharged, resulting in an injury to one of the team’s trainers.
The former Dallas ISD superintendent, Michael Hinojosa, characterized the incident as a public embarrassment, stating, “This is a sad day for Dallas ISD. There is no getting around it.”
A warrant was issued for Henderson’s arrest on charges of aggravated assault. However, before San Antonio police could apprehend him, he returned to Dallas and evaded surrendering himself.
Instead, Henderson became involved in a series of criminal activities, as outlined by Dallas police.
In April 2023, he was taken into custody by the Dallas police, facing two charges of aggravated robbery.
According to court documents, Dallas law enforcement alleged that Henderson utilized Facebook to deceive individuals into believing he wanted to purchase laptops, only to then rob them at gunpoint.
