The Brooklyn Nets have listed Kyrie Irving as out for Sunday’s matchup at the Los Angeles Lakers. The Nets have offered no further updates for Irving’s status beyond the Lakers game.
Saturday’s game at the LA Clippers marks the fifth game of Irving’s minimum five-game suspension the Nets levied over a week ago. Brooklyn has won three of the first four games that Irving has missed.
Irving will end up missing at least six games, as the earliest he could return will be at the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday. Some have suggested Irving may not play again until the Nets return to Brooklyn to face the Memphis Grizzlies on November 20. That would mean a total of eight games missed for the veteran point guard.
In recent days, NBA commissioner Adam Silver and Nets governor Joe Tsai have had meetings with Irving. Both Silver and Tsai have said those meetings were productive. Both also said that the NBA, the Nets and NBPA are working towards a process that will allow Irving to return to the team.
