Kevin Durant: Fans only value players that play for them for the duration of their career

“Nowadays we get the fans who get to let their voices be heard a little bit more,” said West All-Star forward Kevin Durant, who plays for the Phoenix Suns, to Andscape. “They only value players that play for them for the duration of their career. In some respect, if you weren’t good enough and you somehow move on, that’s when you get respect amongst the fanbase. But if you leave and you’re still pretty good then that takes away from what you did there.”

More on this storyline

Sources did confirm Booker, Durant and Beal being unavailable for a trade. ESPN also reported Morey asked the Lakers about the availability of LeBron James. Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka reportedly said no and then asked Morey if reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid was available. -via Arizona Republic / February 14, 2024
Sources inform The Arizona Republic that Philadelphia 76ers team owner Daryl Morey didn’t inquire about the availability of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal as ESPN is reporting he did right before last week’s trade deadline. ESPN reported Morey asked about the availability of Durant. When told Durant wasn’t, Morey inquired about Booker and Beal and was given a “no” answer as well, the report said. -via Arizona Republic / February 14, 2024
These sorts of bold trade calls are historically a common practice for Morey, who also called the Phoenix Suns and asked about a trade for Durant prior to the deadline, sources said. When told no, Morey then asked about the availability of Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, too. Unsurprisingly, those were nos as well, sources said. -via ESPN / February 14, 2024
