Each Christmas, NBA fans gather around their televisions to enjoy a full day of hoops (or they go spend time with their families like weirdos). The league has done a great job of integrating the game into the traditions of many families, as they celebrate the holiday.
With the day being one of the biggest of the year for the NBA, plenty of time and money goes into nailing the promotional materials. This year, they decided to include Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum in a recreation of one of their all-time great advertisements, the “Jingle Hoops” commercial.
The 2024 edition of the ad is far more grand than the original, with the inclusion of many NBA stars as toys. Nonetheless, it’s pretty cool to see that Tatum, along with Luka Doncic, was selected to join three of the five original jingle shooters, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Steph Curry.
Sure, it would’ve been way cooler if they had them recreate this in live action rather than as animated toys, but what can you do?
Tatum’s place in the commercial certainly says a lot about his status as one of the league’s top players. I’m also sure it’s pretty cool for Deuce to see his dad as part of the toy-filled ad.
Boston will host the Philadelphia 76ers at 5 p.m. ET as part of the NBA’s stacked Christmas Day slate.
